Pagnotta Shares Latest On Possible Meier To Devils Deal

The San Jose Sharks are a busy team right now considering where they are in the standings. They are obviously sellers ahead of the trade deadline day.

The Sharks also have one of the most coveted players currently available in defenceman Erik Karlsson and forward Timo Meier. Many hockey insiders have been reporting that a Meier trade seems to be very imminent, including David Pagnotta, who would share the latest on the Meier sweepstakes on Twitter:

"Per a source, I'm led to believe the #NJDevils have discussed what an extension would look like with Meier. Meier is seeking $9M+ AAV. The Devils were believed to be in the $8Ms. We'll see where this goes."

"#SJSharks are grinding away at a Timo Meier trade and I'm told the #NJDevils are way ahead of the pack. #VegasBorn has been in the mix, but I've gotten pushback this AM. If there's a mystery team, they're doing a great job on keeping it quiet. SJ wants young players in a package."

The Devils have went from a non playoff team last season to a bonifid playoff contender with explosive offence. Just imagine adding another 30-goal man in Meier to that mix and the Devils could do some damage in the playoffs, but don't count the Golden Knights out of this one just yet. They're looking to fill that void left by Mark Stone having season ending back surgery.
