Rick Bowness calls out his team big time after an embarrassing loss
The Winnipeg Jets have been a completely different team since their most recent coaching change. Rick Bowness took over prior to this season and they've picked it up quite nicely since last year, showing a 31-19-1 record good for the second place in the Central Division.
Last night they played a struggling Flyers team and managed to let them win, in front of their fans an embarrassing 4-0 loss. The Jets' pilot clearly wasn't satisfied with the effort and called out his players when he was made available to the media after the game. Mike McIntyre from Winnipeg News reported his statement:
''We saw it from the guys we thought we'd see it from. We're disappointed that we didn't see it from the guys that we needed it from. The difference makers, you can't even find them out there''
Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Pier-Luc Dubois were nowhere to be found in this tilt and Bowness didn't hesitate to report that they did not get the job done. Connor played over 19 minutes, only took one shot but had a -3 differential.
It could be argued that the Flyers' netminder, Carter Hart, stood on his head since he saved all 50 shots that were sent his way.
"Right now we're going through a spell that as soon as the adversity kicks in, we're going on our own program. Which was the problem all of last year,"
He proceeded to mention that the team didn't play a good enough 60-minutes and the 14-thousand fans made no mistake in letting the players know they weren't satisfied with the show on the ice:
"I'm surprised there weren't more boos. I am, we need a 60-minute effort. That's all the fans want to see, is a 60-minute effort. ..., Right now the process isn't good enough and the effort isn't good enough. And that's all our fans want to see. So they're justified in their boos."
The Jets are 2-5-0 in their last seven games, they will try and break off their 3-game losing streak when they host the Blues on Monday before their 11 days All-Star Break.
