Seravalli reveals the details about Horvat's next contract
The Canucks' captain has been considered the top Trade Bait from literally any media surrounding the NHL. Even though Horvat has indicated that his focus was on the Canucks and nothing else, it must be bugging him to not know where he'll be living next year.
Bo Horvat has proven to be one of the league's top guns this year and his showing no sign of slowing down since he scored his 29th of the season in yesterday's tilt against the Jets. He's to 29 in 39, currently on pace for an impressive 61 goals.
Today, Seravalli released more information when he revealed what the parameters of his next deals will look like. A consensus around the league revealed that the Horvat is currently worth $8.25M for the next 8 years, totaling $66M.
''There have been rumblings of late that at least one team is willing to pay Horvat an AAV that begins with $9 million if he makes it to market. It only takes one team. And he'd have to make it there first.''
The Canucks have already stated that they weren't keen on the idea of going above the $56M that was previously given to J.T. Miller. Bo Horvat is currently having a career year and the question that stands still is whether or not he'll be able to keep the scoring machine going, especially since he's never been as prolific as he is today. Seravalli added that the Canucks we're most likely not done in this saga yet:
''The Canucks have plenty of options today. The smart bet is they will take one more run at trying to re-sign him.''
$66M is a lot of money, the Canucks have made these kinds of signings in the past and they weren't always beneficial for the club. Should they engage this much money for Captain Bo Horvat or should they let him walk?
