Rick Tocchet is an old-school style coach that focusses on speed of the puck and having multiple shooters ready in the offensive zone. He pays attention to the little details and believes in an open environment for his coaching staff and players to bring their thoughts and ideas to him. He may be a very good option if it gets the Canucks shooting more on even strength and the power play. Too many times are they caught trying to make the pretty play or pass only to get intercepted or no shots for their effort.

Mike Vellucci's last head coach job was back in the 2018-19 season when he was the AHL Charlotte Checkers' head coach. That season, they set a franchise best season record of 51-17-7 and went on to win the Calder Cup.
