WATCH | Red Wings' Head Coach ejected for vehemently complaining about a controversial replay ruling
Currently, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings are facing off in an Eastern Conference matchup. While the Penguins are striving to maintain their wildcard spot, the Red Wings' season is essentially over. Despite this fact, the Red Wings head coach refused to let it affect his management of the game tonight.
During the first period, the Red Wings gained a 3-0 lead, but that advantage vanished in the second period. After the Penguins managed to score a goal, the Red Wings challenged the ruling. However, after a review, it was determined that there was no interference with the goalie in the play. In response to the decision, Lalonde, the Red Wings' coach, erupted in anger toward the officials, resulting in his ejection from the game. As the second period ends, the Red Wings are without their coach, and the game remains tied at 3.
At this point, it's hard to disagree with Lalonde, it's clear that the Pens' player directly touched his pad without making contact with the puck, therefore, standing for obstruction.
