WOW | Unreal sportsmanship from Pettey as he tries to cancel an opposing penalty (video)
The Canucks have yet again surprised à cup contending in the Dallas Stars when they showed no mercy last night, skating away with a 5-2 victory.
Brock Boeser and J.T. Miller both came up big as they combined for 5 points. One thing that retained loads of attention, was a sequence where Elias Pettersson gets tripped.
The gesture Pettersson then did is going viral at this moment since he tried to get the penalty canceled. Pettersson deemed the play was soft and that he should have stayed up, but the referee wanted none of that and made the call anyway. Here's the sequence:
Pettersson has grown into an elite centerman since the Canucks drafted him with the 5th overall pick in 2018. It's actually the second time this year a player tries to cancel a call on the opposing team, Cale Makar who was selected 4th in that same draft.
Pettersson is on pace to hit the 100-point barrier for the first time in his career and with the leadership and sportsmanship he's been displaying, it's hard to believe he wouldn't be the Canucks' next captain.
