Hockey World in Mourning as 15-Year-Old Hockey Player Tragically Passes Away - Family Blames Hospital
The entire hockey community is once again in deep mourning as 15-year-old hockey player out of Georgina, Ontario, Nolan Ion has lost his life due to a sudden cardiac arrest.
The hockey world has been shaken up by more than one tragic death of a young hockey player, and this one is no different.
Unfortunately, there is more to the story as Nolan Ion's parents are now speaking out against the city for the lack of care their son received during he medical emergency.
The 15-year old Nolan Ion of the Upper York Admirals U16 AA team has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on March 18th during gym class at Keswick High School.
After care was administered on the scene, he was then transported to the SickKids hospital in Toronto, Ontario, where he sadly was unable to be resuscitated and lost his life, he would have been 16 on March 21st..
Now, Nolan's father is going after the local hospital in Southlake as he beleives tis could have all been been prevented.
Several months prior to this devastating incident it was reported that his son was been battling a lung problem, going through some rough pain where he was administered to Southlake Health on March 15th.
Despite going through all the tests, he was cleared by doctors to against the better judgment of the concern of the family.
He now blames the hospital for their sons death.
«I've lost all faith in the Newmarket hospital The only way he was going to be saved was Saturday night,» his father said.
Nolan's head coach than spoke out and addressed the current state of their health care systems:
«We want to try and prevent this from happening again,» Nolan's head coach, Leo Baker, said while speaking alongside James Ion via speaker phone. «Maybe doctors in our health-care system maybe need to take a little more precautions when it comes to children.»
The news is ability devastating and his father wants everyone to remember his son as an a easygoing, fun-loving, soft, gentle, and a respectful young man who was taken away far too soon.
