Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov recently received a two-game suspension for his high hit on Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond on Saturday. The Canucks went on to lose the game in overtime.
Zadorov, 28, acquired earlier this season from Calgary, returned to action Thursday night against the Red Wings once again. This time, the Canucks won 4-1 in what was their third straight victory.
Zadorov was asked about the hit in question, and took full responsibility for the play:
It was a bad hit. Completely missed him it was clearly head contact.
Matt Sekeres praised Zadorov for his honesty/honourable actions:
Very honest/honourable of Zadorov. Wish more NHL players took this level of responsibility for their actions. https://t.co/VK6eUk1bPg— Matthew Sekeres (@mattsekeres) February 15, 2024
