Arizona Coyotes' buyer confirms the rumour regarding the franchise
Multiple insiders have confirmed the relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Utah, but none of the NHL, the team, or its current owner, Alex Meruelo, have spoken on the sale to this point.
The team's reported new owner, Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith, confirmed the rumours himself that he's bringing the Coyotes franchise to Utah.
While Smith is correct that it's been no secret, this is really the first official acknowledgement of the sale from the parties involved.
According to insiders, the team will move to Utah with an undetermined name. Meruelo, a new Phoenix area owner, will have a chance to revive the franchise shortly via expansion.
With their new owner ready to hit the ground running, the team formerly known as the Coyotes could be looking to make some big splashes this offseason.
