It's been reported on many occasions the Canucks are still very high on Chris Tanev, and Tanev is hoping for a reunion with his former team. After the Canucks and the Flames have already completed two trades this season, will Vancouver be Tanev's landing spot? Only time will tell.
Tanev is very high on many contending teams' lists and should fetch the Flames a premium return. Usually, where there's smoke, there's fire, and with all of the rumours linking Tanev to the Canucks and the variety of needs Allvin still has to fill, a trade proposal has emerged, connecting the two teams for a third trade this season.
There's no need to address what the addition of Tanev would do to the Canucks defensive core. In need of a right-handed shot defenseman to complete their top four, Tanev would fit in perfectly. Adding him would help in spreading the team's talent around:
Sharangovich, on his part, maybe the most intriguing piece of this proposal. The Flames acquired the 25-year-old in return for the veteran Tyler Toffoli. The Belarussian already has 20 goals on the season and could be fit to slot in on J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser's line. He is 6'02'' and almost 200 pounds, a left-handed and fast skater, and he has a better finishing ability than Mikheyev. He is also signed for a more reasonable contract, as he currently earns $3.1M (for one more season).
