With now just shy of a week before NHL free agency opens, and just days before the draft, the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes could be discussing a deal that would open up a pathway for Vegas to sign this summer's biggest free agent name - Mitch Marner
While the Golden Knights' interest in Marner has been discussed widely, they have less than $10 million in cap space without a full roster, unlikely to be enough for a Marner deal.
As rumours have been rampant around the Vegas Golden Knights interest in Mitch Marner, many have wondered who Vegas might move on from to make enough room for such a move.
After hearing some chatter about names like
William Karlsson, it appears Tomas Hertl may be the cap casualty after just 79 regular season games with the Golden Knights.
Hertl and his $6.75 million deal have been discussed as a possibly on the way to the Carolina Hurricanes, with some hockey content creators pointing towards a deal being all but done.
There's some smoke out there that Carolina could be bringing in Tomas Hertl.
Carolina gets a top six forward, Vegas opens up cap space for a Marner pitch.
Working to confirm.
As of end of day Tuesday, no move had been made involving Hertl or the Golden Knights, and it's worth noting Hertl holds a no-trade clause which affords him just a 3 team trade list.
It seems like the Marner to Vegas rumours could be realistic.
