After spending just over two years with the National Hockey League's Players Association, former Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis is set to leave his role at the end of the month.

"Former #Canucks    GM Mike Gillis is departing the #NHLPA when his contract expires later this month." Seravalli said.

Gillis, 64, was hired by the NHLPA in 2021 as a consultant on the business side of things and was a finalist in their search for a new Executive Director, which ended up going to former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

The Sudbury, Ontario native was named General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks in April 2008 and held the role until April 2014, when he was relieved of his duties by owner Francesco Aquilini.

During his time with the Canucks, Gillis was named General Manager of the Year by the National Hockey League after leading the team to their third Stanley Cup Finals appearance in franchise history.
