A former Vancouver Canucks forward is reportedly a front-runner to take over the Head Coaching reigns with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League.
The Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins and Seattle Kraken are all still searching for their next bench boss and it appears that a former Vancouver Canucks forward is in the mix for one of those openings.
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Marco Sturm reportedly a front-runner for Boston Bruins job
In a post on social media on Monday, Jimmy Murphy of RG Media reported that Marco Sturm, along with Jay Leach and former Edmonton Oilers bench boss Jay Woodcroft are all considered front-runners for the Boston Bruins' Head Coaching job.
"Yesterday, on the @sickpodnhl, I reported that Marco Sturm and Jay Leach were frontrunners to become the next HC of the #NHLBruins.
That is still true, but I've since been told by two trusted sources that former #LetsGoOilers HC Jay Woodcroft is too, and may be 'The Frontrunner'."
Murphy said.
In addition to Murphy's report, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said on Tuesday that Marco Sturm and Jay Woodcroft are in contention for the Boston Bruins coaching gig, with the latter having a follow-up interview in recent days.
The Dingolfing, Germany native has a ton of coaching experience already, including the past three seasons as the bench boss of the AHL's Ontario Reign, four seasons as an assistant with the Los Angeles Kings and three years as the Head Coach of the German Men's National Team, leading them to a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Given the experience that Marco Sturm has at such a young age and that he knows that it takes to win, it wouldn't be a shock to see him named the next Head Coach of the Boston Bruins in the near future.
