Already viewed as one of the top players under 23 in the league, Connor Bedard hasn't even given his first strides with an NHL jersey, and people are already calling for his greatness.
The BlackHawks went on a fire sale last year in order to accentuate their chances of landing the prospected franchise player, and they ended up winning their bet. With a whole new group and few veterans on their line-up, an analyst at the NHL Network suggested that Bedard should be awarded captaincy immediately since he will have some time anyway.
The experienced coach, Bruce Boudreau, tempered everyone's expectations. The former Canucks bench boss pointed out that even though he's a formidable player, you can't hand the ‘C' to an 18-year-old with vets like Corey Perry and Taylor Hall around. However, he did say that Bedard would wind up carrying the captainship workload eventually:
