Vancouver Canucks fans are starting to grow more and more frustrated with the play of forward Evander Kane, who the club acquired this summer from Edmonton.

Heading into the offseason, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was looking to add some secondary scoring and a bit more grit to his team's lineup, and he was able to do that in a in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers for nine-time 20+ goal scorer Evander Kane.
Kane, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia spoke about being able to join his hometown team in an interview during the summer, but so far, it hasn't been the start to the season he hoped for.
"It probably hasn't even sunk in a hundred percent yet, just cause, you know, you haven't had a practice yet, you haven't gone out there and played a game in front of the hometown. So, you know, it's the middle of the summer and it's set in a little bit, but I think once training camp gets rolling and you actually get on the ice and start practicing and letting the hockey kind of take over, I think it'll sink in a little bit more and get to the know the guys a bit better." Kane said.

He added, "I'm excited for that. Obviously, being able to put on a Vancouver Canucks uniform is really special. I grew up watching the Canucks. Markus Naslund was my favorite Canuck growing up by far."

Vancouver Canucks fans frustrated with Evander Kane's start to 2025-26 season

After last night's loss to the Montreal Canadiens, where Evander Kane was a minus-two and picked up a pretty undiscilpined penalty by cross-checking Cole Caufield, fans of the Vancouver Canucks took to social media to share their frustration with the 34-year-old's start to the season.
"I don't think the Evander Kane experiment is going very well" @surreycanuck6 said.
"The more Evander Kane floats around out there the more it feels the Canucks really screwed up trading for him and then trading away Dakota Joshua. DJ is bigger, 5 years younger, more physical, signed with term for $2M less than EK.

Yikes.😳" @livinginUS_Eh said.
"Get Evander Kane off my team man #Canucks" @Millerthegoat9 said.
"Evander Kane hurts the Canucks more then helps them" @Van_city_Nucks said.
Entering action on Sunday against his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, Evander Kane has been limited to just three assists in nine games, along with 12 penalty minutes and is a minus-one.
So far, it's fair to say that the trade is not working out in Vancouver's favour at all, especially considering the Edmonton Oilers didn't retain any salary and the Canucks are on the hook for $5.125 million this season before Kane becomes an unrestricted free agent on Canada Day next summer.
Hopefully for the Vancouver Canucks' sake, Evander Kane will bounce back and become an impact player for the club in the weeks ahead, but if he doesn't, the club may have to consider offloading up closer to the NHL's trade deadline in March, if any team is even interested in him at that point.
