NHL confirms it for Matthew Tkachuk and his attack on Connor McDavid
Everybody was expecting a ruthless Stanley Cup Final with players like Corey Perry, Evander Kane, Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett. So far, both teams have delivered.
There hasn't been a game where a play hasn't been discussed as suspension-worthy on either team. The Oilers and the Panthers have delivered their fair share of shots or hits that could've been considered overboard.
During game four, Matthew Tkachuk rose after being quiet for the first three games and went off on the Oilers' superstar Connor McDavid. The Panthers forward launched three uppercuts at the Oilers' 97:
Things went off from there. A ten-man brawl broke out. Even Anthony Stolarz, the Panthers' netminder, got involved.
Since then, the verdict has been heard. The NHL will not issue any supplemental discipline on Tkachuk despite his violent act on McDavid.
Now that 5 pm EST has passed, it is official that Matthew Tkachuk will NOT be receiving any supplementary discipline for jumping a defenceless Connor McDavid
This once again puts forward the NHL's inconsistency in those situations. Not long ago, Carson Soucy was awarded a one-game suspension for an attack on the Oilers superstar. Is Tkachuk not receiving anything because he's a 100-point player?
