After sitting out Tuesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, it appears that the Philadelphia Flyers will be without their captain, who will be a heathy scratch for the second consecutive game.
Tortorella addressed the media this morning before the team skated at PNC Arena and according to Flyers beat reporter Jackie Spiegel, when he was asked about Sean Couturier, he said "I'm not talking about Sean."
Couturier is becoming frustrated with what's going on in Philadelphia and after it was announced he wasn't going to be playing on Tuesday against Toronto, he told reporters that he wasn't happy with how he was being treated.
The 31-year-old was named captain by the Philadelphia Flyers less than 40 days ago and given his feelings on the situation and with him saying he isn't happy how he's being treated, is there a possibility he could ask for a trade this summer? Well, frankly, even if he does, it certainly won't be easy to do as he's under contract for six more years following the 2023-24 campaign with a cap hit of $7.75 million.
If the Philadelphia Flyers get a package that they like in an offer for Couturier and are willing to retain a portion of his salary, although probably not the maximum of 50%, then it's entirely possible, but won't be easy.
