LATEST | Canucks make an announcement regarding Matthew Perkins: A prospect flying under the radar
The Canucks thought out of the box during this year's draft and only time will tell whether or not it was a good strategy.
In this year's 4th Round, they selected an overage in Matthew Perkins. The centerman out of Youngstown collected 44 points in 60 games with the USHL's Phantom. The Canucks issued their building blue announcement regarding Perkins, which sheds some light on why they opted to make that selection.
"Good two-way player with a lot of speed."
Continuing with this year's draft class, #BuildingBlue features forward Matthew Perkins.''
As highlighted by Chris Higgins, Perkins is a well-rounded forward who can play all three positions. He generates lots of speed and always finds a way to chip in the team's success regardless of the role he has on his team. His character and competitiveness mainly highlighted the reasons for his selection.
He's set to join the University of Minnessota-Duluth in the NCAA's top division.
