Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote sent a clear message to veteran forward Evander Kane during Sunday night's game against the Calgary Flames.

The Vancouver Canucks made what they thought would be an impactful move in the offseason when they acquired veteran forward Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
"With that said, I'm incredibly excited for the next chapter of my career as I join the @Canucks . It's an honor to become part of an organization and team I grew up watching as a kid. Vancouver is a city that lives and breathes hockey, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of my hometown as I did many years ago as a Vancouver Giant." Kane said in a social media post back in June.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the acquisition of Evander Kane as he returned to his hometown and many were hoping he'd provide the club with some depth scoring as he has nine seasons of 20+ goals under his belt, but it hasn't been the homecoming that either side was hoping for.

Adam Foote sends clear message to Evander Kane on Sunday night

For the majority of November, Evander Kane has been playing on the first line with Elias Pettersson, who is on a bit of a hot streak of late with nine points in his last six games.
Head Coach Adam Foote was hoping that promoting Evander Kane to the top line would give them what they needed and while it worked out for Elias Pettersson, it certainly hasn't for the 34-year-old.
Last night, Kane began the game on the top line once again with Elias Pettersson and Jake DeBrusk, but as the third period began, he found himself demoted by his Head Coach.
According to Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650, Evander Kane was demoted to the third line during last night's game, while Drew O'Connor took his spot on the top line alongside Elias Pettersson.
"Kane down to the 3rd line. O'Connor up to the 1st line. #Canucks" Batchelor said.
Kane's demotion to the third line resulted in his second-lowest ice time of November at 15:40 and lowest since November 1st when he skated in 15:10 of a 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Kane has been hovering around the 20-minute mark for the majority of November, so seeing his ice time drop probably didn't make him too happy and hopefully will spark a fire under him as the Canucks get set to embark on a four-game road trip to Anaheim, San Jose, Los Angeles and Colorado on Wednesday.
