LATEST | Rick Tocchet notes the impressive improvement captain Quinn Hughes brought to his game
Canucks head coach, Rick Tocchet, discussed the very important change his captain brought to his game. The newest Canucks captain, Quinn Hughes, is an exceptional offensive player that can be a game breaker in the offensive zone.
Tocchet talked about how his top Defenseman improved one thing in his game that lacking and it's definitely a strong weapon to add to his arsenal:
'' Rick Tocchet says he thinks Quinn Hughes' shot is maybe 10-20 mph harder than it was last season.
Tocchet says he's very impressed with how Hughes improved his shot this offseason.''
Hughes has four full NHL seasons putting up strong offensive numbers. In the last two seasons, Hughes has put up outstanding point totals, especially when it comes to assists. Hughes has put up 129 assists in his last 2 seasons. The defenseman also has 15 goals in that period.
Tocchet said that he thinks Hughes' shot has hit another level, being 15-20 MPH harder than last season. If Hughes can find the back of the net more often with his shot, the Canucks defenseman could be lethal.
Tocchet said he was impressed with the work Hughes put into his shot. We will see if the new changes have a large affect on Hughes' game. The Canucks number 43 is already very dangerous in the offensive-zone, if his shot becomes a legitimate threat, the Canucks power play is going to be even more dangerous.
