Ahead of the New Season, Evander Kane Addresses Lingering Questions with Eye-Opening Health Statement
Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane recently spoke about joining his hometown team and gave a big update about his health heading into the 2025-26 season.
After back-to-back trips to the Stanley Cup Final with the Edmonton Oilers, Evander Kane's time in Oil Country came to a close as he was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft back in late June.
Adding a player like Evander Kane to their lineup is big for the Vancouver Canucks as he gives them another legit scoring threat and brings a ton of grit and toughness, which will be needed if they're able to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons.
Evander Kane opens up on joining hometown team, gives health update
During a recent interview with Chris Faber, Evander Kane opened up about finally being able to join the Vancouver Canucks, his hometown team that he grew up watching as a kid.
"Being able to put on a Vancouver Canucks uniform is really special. I grew up watching the Canucks. Markus Naslund was my favorite Canuck growing up by far." Kane said.
While Kane appeared all but one of Edmonton's postseason contests, it was the only hockey he was able to play during the 2024-25 campaign as he missed the entire regular season recovering from a pair of surgeries.
Thankfully for the Vancouver Canucks, Kane mentioned that he is back to being at 100 percent health and he's hoping to have a big year now that he's feeling much better.
"Being able to get my body right, have the surgeries I had, and get back to 100 percent was a nice kind of reset for me. Hopefully that can translate onto the ice." Kane said.
The 33-year-old has been a very consistent goal scorer throughout his career in the National Hockey League, finishing nine seasons with at least 20 goals and hitting double digits 15 times.
For a Vancouver Canucks team that finished 24th in the National Hockey League in goals for last season, adding Evander Kane, along with re-signing Brock Boeser long-term, will certainly certainly help them put the puck in the back of the net in a big way and hopefully, propel them towards a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
