All Signs Point to a Offseason Reunion Between the Vancouver Canucks and Former Top Prospect

A former Vancouver Canucks prospect could be a potential free agent target this summer for Patrik Allvin as the club looks to round out their forward group.
For the most part, the Vancouver Canucks are likely done when it comes to adding to their roster, unless they're able to move money out,
potentially by moving someone like Dakota Joshua and if they do, there's still a handful of intriguing players available on the free agent market.
Former Vancouver Canucks prospect could be option for Patrik Allvin this summer
Tomorrow will mark one week since the National Hockey League's free agent market opened up and obviously, all of the top names are off the board, with notable players such as Stanley Cup champions
Alec Martinez and
Robby Fabbri among those still available to sign.
In a recent article on Canucks Army, David Quadrelli took a look at a few players that the Vancouver Canucks could eye up on the free agent market to round out their roster.
Among the names mentioned by Quadrelli is someone that is very familiar with the Vancouver Canucks organization, despite not ever playing in the NHL with them - Michael Carcone.
"Believe it or not, Michael Carcone is 'notable' for more reasons than just 'used to be in the Canucks' organization'.
Carcone scored 21 goals as a member of the Arizona Coyotes in 2023-24, and 19 points through 53 games with Utah last season.
He's presumably on the hunt for a one-way deal, and preferably one with some sort of term. Will he get it?" Quadrelli said.
There are a pair of Utah's pending unrestricted free agents who are very much on our radar from a Canucks perspective heading into July 1.
We've been told to watch for the club to pursue Michael Carcone, who began his professional career as an undrafted free-agent signing by the Canucks during Mike Gillis' tenure, and Nick Bjugstad if they make it to market." Drance and Dhaliwal said.
*It's worth noting that Carcone was signed by Jim Benning, not Mike Gillis, who was fired two years prior.*
Carcone, 29, was signed by the Vancouver Canucks as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2016 out of the QMJHL after an impressive 89 point season with the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
He went on to make 149 appearances for Vancouver's AHL affiliate at the time, the Utica Comets, before Jim Benning traded him to the Toronto Maple Leafs in December 2018 for forward Josh Leivo.
After leaving the Vancouver Canucks organization, made stops with the AHL affiliates with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators before finally finding his NHL home with the Arizona Coyotes, accompanying them to Salt Lake City, Utah back in the spring of 2024.
The Ajax, Ontario native saw a ten-point drop in production when compared to the season prior in Arizona and during the team's first year in Utah, he put up 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists), 36 penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
If the Vancouver Canucks are to sign Michael Carcone at some point between now and training camp, it'll more than likely come in somewhere around the $1-1.25 million US range, which as mentioned earlier, would require Patrik Allvin to move some money out as the team only has $795,000 remaining in cap space.
