The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Panthers 5-1 this afternoon in Game 3 of their best-of-seven first round matchup, earning their first win of the series.
Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk may soon be hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Late in the third period, just moments before Anthony Cirelli's empty-net goal, Guentzel was blindsided by Tkachuk at centre ice. Tkachuk delivered the hit long after Guentzel had passed the puck up to Cirelli for the game's last goal.
Guentzel was slow to his feet after the hit but appeared to be ok, which is good news for the Lightning.

A scrum ensued after the hit and Tkachuk was then assessed a 5-minute major, and was tossed for the rest of the game.
Jack Sutherland from Hockey Unplugged writes that Lightning fans will be expecting a suspension for Tkachuk in Game 4, especially after Lightning forward Brandon Hagel received a one-game ban for his hard hit on Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov late in Game 2.

If Tkachuk does get suspended, it will definitely be a blow to the Panthers' offense considering he leads the team with 3 goals so far in the series.
