A trade proposal has emerged this week sending a former first round pick, who is reportedly being shopped by his team early in the season, to the Vancouver Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks have been scouring the trade market in recent weeks as Patrik Allvin would like to add another middle-six forward to his roster following the injury to Nils Hoglander in the preseason.
"The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent." David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said recently.

With the injuries among their forward group continuing to pile up, Patrik Allvin make be forced to make a move sooner than most would've expected and this week, a trade proposal has emerged that would see the club acquire a former first round pick.

As the Vancouver Canucks continue to weigh their options on the market, Michael DeRosa of Heavy.com recently suggested a trade proposal that would see the club acquire 22-year-old forward Brennan Othmann from the New York Rangers.
In exchange for Othamnn, DeRosa's proposal sees the Vancouver Canucks parting ways with a second round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and a third round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
"When looking at trade candidates around the NHL, one player who stands out is New York Rangers forward Brennan Othmann. The former first-round pick could use a change of scenery, and the Canucks could be a good landing spot for him.

Canucks Get:
- Brennan Othmann

Rangers Get:
- 2026 Second-Round Pick
- 2027 Fourth-Round Pick" DeRosa said.

Last week, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that Brennan Othmann's name was generating some interest on the trade market and that conversations have been taking place with other clubs around the league after he was assigned to the AHL to start the 2025-26 campaign.
"It's early and most teams try to wait until making moves, but there is at least one name gaining traction out there.

That's New York Rangers prospect Brennan Othmann." Friedman said.

He went on to add, "Othmann was sent down to AHL Hartford after failing to make the NHL team, and, since that occurred, there's been conversations with other clubs about his future.

The Rangers have a lot on the wings and it simply may be that he needs a fresh start elsewhere."

Othmann, a native of Pickering, Ontario, has appeared in 25 games at the NHL level with the New York Rangers where he's put up two assists, two penalty minutes and is a plus-seven.
With Othmann needing a fresh start, having a low salary of $863,334 and the Vancouver Canucks dealing with plenty of injury issues right now, it feels like the two teams could be a perfect match to complete a deal involving the former first rounder.
