A trade proposal has emerged on social media that would send Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland to the Philadelphia Flyers to reunite with his former Head Coach Rick Tocchet.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is going to be quite busy this summer in order to fix the team's roster heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
While adding a
second line center is a priority, Allvin and the management group will also be looking at other areas of the roster that need to be address, potentially bringing in someone with size, grit and the ability to produce in their top-six forward group.
Trade proposal emerges sending Conor Garland to the Philadelphia Flyers
As of July 1st, the Vancouver Canucks are eligible to sign forward Conor Garland to a contract extension, one year before he's set to become an unrestricted free agent and the 29-year-old
was asked about his future with the team during a recent interview on
Donnie & Dhali.
Garland seemed pretty non-committal about his future with the Vancouver Canucks, probably because it's something that he hasn't given much thought to just yet, but as he enters the final year of his contract, could he potentially be a trade chip for Patrik Allvin?
In a post on X on Wednesday, Vancouver Canucks fan @Dominik171888 shared their trade proposal involving Conor Garland that would see him return closer to home out East and reunite with his former Head Coach, Rick Tocchet.
In the proposal, the Vancouver Canucks would trade Conor Garland, along with a couple other assets to the Philadelphia Flyers for 26-year-old winger
Owen Tippett, who would bring some size to the team's top-six.
"Hear me out. Garland ++ to Philly for Owen Tippett. Garland would go back east with Tocchet. Meanwhile, we add a legitimate top 6 winger with size. #Canucks" X user @Dominik1718888 suggests.
Tippett, a former 10th overall pick, has seven years remaining on his contract with a fairly reasonable cap hit of $6.2 million and is coming off his third straight 20+ goal campaign.
Meanwhile, Conor Garland and Rick Tocchet have a great relationship, not only from their time together in Vancouver, but also with the Arizona Coyotes, where the Canucks forward was given plenty of opportunities by his former Head Coach.
The Scituate, Massachusetts was pretty disappointed to see Rick Tocchet leave,
but is grateful for their time together, and without a doubt, everyone knows that if an opportunity came up to reunite, Garland would take it.
"I was very fortunate to have him. I was a young player, I really didn't understand the details of the game and what it took to win. I was more just relying on scoring and producing points, and he taught me the other side of the game and really filled out the rest of my game. I'll be forever grateful for that." Garland said.
