Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin offered a new update on the status of contract talks between the organization and pending free agent forward Brock Boeser.
Speaking during a season ticket holder event, Allvin addressed questions surrounding Boeser's status and the team's offseason plans.
According to Patrik Allvin, via Patrick Johnston of The Province, the Canucks are still exploring the option of re-signing forward Brock Boeser before he hits unrestricted free agency on July 1.
«We're going to see if there's a chance to keep Brock Boeser." -Allvin
Antonio Lasada from Athlon Sports writes that in an interesting development, Allvin hinted at a possible shift in tone compared to earlier this year, when the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension.
Brock Boeser is coming off a 25-goal, 50-point season, a dip from his career-high 40-goal performance in 2023-24.
Lasada also writes that as the Canucks' longest-serving player, Boeser reflected on his future following the conclusion of the regular season, after it was confirmed that Vancouver would miss the playoffs.
"Allvin and the Canucks still have time to negotiate an extension before the July 1 free agency window opens, with Boeser having a window to sign it between the end of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and that date." -Lasada
Boeser was one of the most frequently mentioned names leading up to the trade deadline, but in the end, the Canucks opted to keep him on the roster.
We'll see if Boeser will wish to remain a Canuck when he becomes a free agent on July 1.
