The contract for newly-appointed Philadelphia Flyers Head Coach Rick Tocchet has been revealed and he's become one of the highest-paid bench bosses in the National Hockey League.

Just over two weeks after leaving the Vancouver Canucks organization to pursue a new opportunity, former Head Coach Rick Tocchet has found his new job.
On Wednesday, to the surprise of almost no one in the hockey world, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that Rick Tocchet - who spent parts of 11 seasons with them as a player including half a season as captain - has been named their 25th head coach in franchise history.

Details of Rick Tocchet's contract with the Philadelphia Flyers have been revealed

Hours after Rick Tocchet was appointed head coach, TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun shared on social media the contract details of the former Canucks Head Coach.
According to LeBrun, Rick Tocchet's contract is for five-years and worth $5.25 million annually ($26.25 million total), which is only $1.25 million more than some believed he was seeking from the Vancouver Canucks.
LeBrun added that Rick Tocchet had multiple teams chasing after him, which aligns with several reports regarding interested teams including the Anaheim Ducks and Seattle Kraken, the latter of whom he interviewed with, according to Frank Seravalli.
"Tocchet's five-year deal pays him $5.25M a year.
He had multiple teams chasing him. Strong market ends up in a very good contract." LeBrun said.
With his $5.25 million annual salary, Rick Tocchet is now the second-highest-paid coach in the National Hockey League behind only Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who took over the top spot after Mike Sullivan and the Pittsburgh Penguins parted ways in late April.
Rick Tocchet did a solid job with the Vancouver Canucks during his time with the organization, leading them to a strong finish in the 2023-24 campaign after taking over in January 2023, before leading them to Game 7 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last May.
Tocchet has some great pieces to work with in Philadelphia including 2023 seventh-overall pick Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster, Travis Konecny, Travis Sanheim, among others and it's only a matter of time before they return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
