A new report in recent days has revealed which team could end up signing head coach Rick Tocchet and it looks like a decision could come as early as this week.

We're a little over a week into the Vancouver Canucks' offseason after the team missed out on the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and surprisingly, it's been a bit of a quiet period for them.
Many were expecting a quick decision on Rick Tocchet's future, especially after Jim Rutherford told reporters last Monday that they have made an offer to him that would make him the highest paid coach in Vancouver Canucks franchise history but since then, it doesn't look like there's been much movement.

Report suggests Rick Tocchet could land with new team this week

On Friday, ESPN's Greg Wyshynski revealed that a source informed himRick Tocchet may be seeking upwards of $5 million annually on a five-year contract.
If Tocchet were to land a contract worth $5 million per year, whether that be from the Vancouver Canucks or another team in the National Hockey League, it would make him the third-highest paid coach behind only Pittsburgh's Mike Sullivan and Tampa Bay's Jon Cooper who earn $5.5 million and $5.3 million, respectively.
While the Vancouver Canucks appear to be trying to do all they can to keep Rick Tocchet with the organization, it might not be enough as another source told Greg Wyshynski that they believe he could sign with the Philadelphia Flyers as early as this week.
"It's not 100% locked that he's leaving Vancouver," another NHL source said to Wyshynski. "This is a confusing one because there's a strong push to keep him. But I've also heard that in a week he'll be with the Flyers."

Tocchet is very familiar with the Philadelphia Flyers organization as they were the team he was drafted by back in 1983 and he spent 621 games with in parts of 11 seasons and even captained them for the first half of the 1991-92 season before being traded to Pittsburgh.
It looks like we're getting closer to a decision on Rick Tocchet's future with the Vancouver Canucks and if the 61-year-old opts to leave the organization, it's going to be very interesting to see which candidates emerge as potential replacements.
