After the Vancouver Canucks missed the 2024-25 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the organization is currently in the middle of a stressful offseason trying to find the suitable upgrades, but a trusted source indicates this season will be no different.

Vancouver is entering the 2025-26 season on the brink of disaster, especially after the highly publicized drama between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson saw the organization with their hands tied and forced to trade the former to the New York Rangers.

Vancouver Canucks headed for destruction

It is well known fact that even with trading Dakota Joshua and garnering the necessary cap space to sign a top UFA, with all the occurred last season, Vancouver was named one of the lowest ranked destinations for free-agents to want to sign.
In combination with all that was mentioned, Captain Quinn Hughes' future is still in doubt, and with the comments made by Jim Rutherford stating that they basically have this season to extend him before being forced to exploring trades.
This fact was even further reinforced by recent piece published on RG Media on July 19.
Marco D'Amico cited an anonymous league source, stating:

"It's such a delicate situation in Vancouver that it feels they could go either way with this, depending on how they start the season. Ever since Rutherford said what he said, everyone is just waiting to see what happens with them."

The Canucks are on the bring of full-scale meltdown, and it is unclear if they have what it takes to prevent it from happening.
