Growing Concerns Come to the Surface About Jack Roslovic's Fit With the Vancouver Canucks
An insider has revealed one potential downfall about possibly signing unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic at some point in the weeks ahead.
With some extra cap space thanks to trading away
Dakota Joshua last week, the Vancouver Canucks are poised to make another addition to their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Insider shares one potential downfall of signing UFA forward Jack Roslovic
During a recent edition of Canucks Conversation, Harman Dayal and Irfaan Gaffar discussed the possibility of the club signing Jack Roslovic this summer.
Dayal seemed pretty open to the Canucks signing the 28-year-old, especially when considering what he did production-wise on a contending Carolina Hurricanes team last season, tying a career-high in goals (22).
However, while he didn't necessarily reject the option, Gaffar mentioned that it's not going to be cheap and used
Christian Dvorak,
someone Vancouver made an offer to back on July 1st, as a bit of an example, saying that he had less points than Roslovic last season and ended up getting $5.4 million on a one-year deal.
Gaffar went on to say that he likely wouldn't pay Roslovic more than $3.5 million on his next contract and wondered if the ask is a bit high at the moment and if that's a reason why a deal hasn't been completed with the Vancouver Canucks or any other NHL team for that matter.
"He put up more points than Christian Dvorak and Dvorak got $5.4 million. I probably wouldn't pay him more than that. I probably wouldn't pay him more than three-and-a-half. I wonder if the ask is a little high right now when it comes to a player like him." Gaffar said.
Thankfully for Gaffar and even the Vancouver Canucks, it doesn't look like Jack Roslovic is looking for the same money that Christian Dvorak got with the Philadelphia Flyers, as Cam Robinson of
Elite Prospects reported earlier this week that his camp is seeking a multi-year deal (2 or 3 years) with an AAV just over $3 million annually.
"Sounds like Roslovic's camp is looking for a 2 or 3-year deal at just over 3M per." Robinson said on X.
With less than eight weeks to go until training camp commences, the Vancouver Canucks are going to need to decide pretty quickly whether they're going to sign Jack Roslovic or if they need to shift their attention to towards another centerman.
