Canucks broadcaster gives massive update on his battle with cancer
A Vancouver Canucks broadcaster has announced great news regarding his battle with cancer.
After being diagnosed with Leukemia back in November 2023, Vancouver Canucks broadcaster Joey Kenward took to social media this week to announce some incredible news.
In a post on X on Thursday night, Kenward announced that his cancer is now in remission thanks to a stem cell transplant, which were given through an anonymous donor.
"Recently I reached a 100 day milestone following my stem cell transplant last March. With that came a bone marrow biopsy (my 4th since being diagnosed with leukemia). I'm happy to share that biopsy results revealed the donor's stem cells are doing what they're supposed to do...and that cancer cells remain in remission. This great news has given me the opportunity to now be at home full-time with my family as I continue my recovery." Kenward said.
He added, "As fantastic a feeling it is to know I've overcome some big obstacles, there's no doubt my recovery & journey ahead won't go by quickly. While I hope to get back to a regular routine as soon as I can, I truly am taking things "one day at a time" & doing my best to get as much rest as possible."
Kenward, 46, has been the host of Vancouver Canucks broadcasts on Sportsnet 650 radio since August 2017. Prior to that, Kenward worked for Canucks Sports & Entertainment as a host and reporter for all of the team's platforms including YouTube and Facebook. He held that role from 2011 to 2017 before joining Sportsnet.
This is great news for Joey Kenward and his family and all Vancouver Canucks fans are happy to hear what he shared this past week.
