Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson said in an interview recently that he loves playing for a Canadian market despite the pressure that comes with it.

The 2024-25 season is one that Elias Pettersson, as well as the rest of the Vancouver Canucks, would like to forget after missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
For Elias Pettersson, he dealt with a reported feud with now former teammate J.T. Miller, an injury last summer that hindered his preparation for the 2024-25 campaign and in turn, affected how he performed on the ice as he finished the year with the second-lowest point total of his NHL career.

Elias Pettersson raves about playing in Vancouver, loves being in a Canadian market

Now that the 2024-25 season is behind him, Elias Pettersson is looking ahead and wants to bounce back in order to prove to the team's management group that they made the right decision by signing him to a long-term contact.
Pettersson was back on the ice recently in Sweden with Bauer Hockey as his offseason training regiment continues and this week, the 26-year-old sat down with Swedish media outlet HockeySverige to discuss a number of topics, including what it's like to play in a Canadian market.
During the interview, Pettersson was joined by Anaheim Ducks forward and fellow Swede Leo Carlsson, and when he was asked about playing in a tough market such as Vancouver, the Canucks forward said that he loves playing in Canada and that it's a city that's really passionate about their hockey team, which is a great thing.
Note: the quotes in this story are translated from Swedish

"(laughter) No, you've been on both sides of the positive and negative there. But I only see it as positive. It's a city that's passionate about hockey, it's hockey in Canada and it doesn't get any better." Pettersson said.

The Sundsvall, Sweden native also shared that last year's Stanley Cup Playoff run with the Vancouver Canucks was one of the 'coolest things' he's every experienced.
"When we played the playoffs last year, it was the absolute coolest thing I've ever experienced. The setting. Between games you saw cars driving around with Canucks flags. It's hard to explain, but it's incredibly cool." Pettersson said.

In recent weeks, there have been rumors about his availability on the trade market with David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period saying that the Canucks are taking calls on him, but it seems quite unlikely that Patrik Allvin moves him this summer and will give him a chance to bounce back this fall and hopefully, he'll be back to the old Elias Pettersson when the puck drops in October.

Do you think the Vancouver Canucks should hold onto Elias Pettersson and not trade him this summer?
