The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly re-opened talks with pending unrestricted free agent Pius Suter.
Salary projections for the 29 year old may have initially scared off the Vancouver Canucks, but as the free agent market has begun to dry up ahead of July 1, their interest in a reunion has seemingly risen.
Vancouver Canucks running out of center options
Basically the moment the Canucks dealt J.T Miller, the search for a top six center began.
While it's believe the team was interested in adding
Matt Duchene as a free agent, the 34 year old instead resigned in Dallas on a 4 year contract worth $4.5 million per season this week.
That development along with other resignings throughout the league has prompted the Canucks to circle back on their own pending free agent, according to Insider Rick Dhaliwal.
On the Donnie and Dhali show, Dhaliwal says in the aftermath of Duchene's extension, he believes the Canucks have again reached out to Pius Suter.
I believe the Canucks have reconnected with Pius Suter's camp in the last 24 hours, I believe contract talks are back on. Canucks are clearly having a tough time getting a top-six centre done. There is one in-house, and that is Suter.
Suter is coming off of a two year deal that paid him $1.6 million per season, but after posting a career high 25 goals and 21 assists and playing a significant role on the penalty kill, he stands to receive a significant raise.
The Canucks have just over $12 million in cap space going into next season, with the likelihood of UFA
Brock Boeser returning looking low.
Pius Suter, on the other hand, could be a decent bet.
