Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has commented on the team's decision to acquire Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday morning.

The Vancouver Canucks made a promise to their fans in May that they would be aggressive in their pursuit to land forward help for the 2025-26 season, in the hopes that they'd be able to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Patrik Allvin went out this morning and completed a trade with the Edmonton Oilers for controversial forward Evander Kane, who shared he is is looking forward to finally get the opportunity to play for his hometown team.
"With that said, I'm incredibly excited for the next chapter of my career as I join the @Canucks . It's an honor to become part of an organization and team I grew up watching as a kid. Vancouver is a city that lives and breathes hockey, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of my hometown as I did many years ago as a Vancouver Giant." Kane said.

Shortly after the trade was made official, Patrik Allvin released a statement where he expressed excitement about bringing Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks.
Allvin said that Kane will bring size and toughness to the group, which he believes the team needed and that he's proved he can be a goal scorer in the National Hockey League as well, something that the Canucks could use next season.
"Evander is a physical power forward who will add some much-needed size and toughness to our group. We like the way he wins puck battles along the boards and handles himself in the dirty areas in front of the net. Evander moves well around the ice and has proven to be a productive goal scorer in the National Hockey League. We are excited to bring him back home to Vancouver and our staff looks forward to working with him this coming season." Allvin said.

Kane, 33, was drafted in the first round, fourth overall, by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009 and has gone on to appeared in 930 career games with them, the Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers, where he's amassed 617 points, including nine seasons of 20+ goals.
The Vancouver native will likely slot in on Vancouver's second line to start the 2025-26 season, assuming Patrik Allvin doesn't add anymore wingers to his roster between now and October.
Vancouver's priority now is to find a second line center, someone that can play behind Elias Pettersson and ideally, a playmaker who can help drive offense and get get Evander Kane another 20+ goal season.
