Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has commented on the organization's decision to lock up forward Linus Karlsson to a multi-year contract extension.
It was a well deserved honour for Karlsson and while many weren't sure how he'd adapt to everyday life in the National Hockey League, it's safe to say that he's exceeded expectations for the role he's spent the majority of the season in.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward Linus Karlsson on a two-year contract with a $2.25 million AAV." the Canucks said on X.
GM Patrik Allvin comments on decision to sign Linus Karlsson to multi-year extension
"Linus has taken a number of big steps since joining our organization. He has worked hard on his game, and we have been impressed with his development both on and off the ice. A leader last year for our Calder Cup Championship team in Abbotsford, Linus used that momentum and experience to solidify a position this year in Vancouver. We look forward to helping him continue to grow moving forward." Allvin said.
Karlsson, a native of Eksjo, Sweden, has registered 17 points (ten goals, seven assists), 24 penalty minutes and is a minus-five in 37 games during his first full season in the National Hockey League.
The 26-year-old centerman is going to be a key piece to Vancouver's hybrid retool plans over the next couple of years and will help provide some stability down the middle for Adam Foote while likely remaining in his usual bottom-six role.
