Canucks officially announce the extension of captain Chase Wouters
The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed forward Chase Wouters, the team captain of AHL Abbotsford who just completed his third season with the team.
Wouters is signing a two year extension that will keep him with the team through 2025-26, after he spent the last two seasons serving as the team's captain.
Abbotsford GM Ryan Johnson announced the signing, and said he's an integral part of the team culture in Abbotsford.
His contributions on and off the ice are a testament to both his abilities and his character. We are thrilled that Chase has committed to leading this team and continuing to develop within our organization.
Wouters is the franchise's all-time leader in games played having joined the team in their inaugural 2021-22 season. The Lloydminster, Alberta native has won the club's «Man of the Year Award» in back-to-back seasons, being recognized for his charitable and volunteer contributions in the community.
In eight full seasons between Abbotsford and the WHL's Saskatoon Blades, Wouters has served as a captain for five of them, soon to be six.
