The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly close to signing forward Conor Garland to a contract extension, which can become official as of Tuesday, July 1st.

The National Hockey League's busiest time of the year is officially upon us and the Vancouver Canucks have been in the thick of things already after acquiring Evander Kane on Wednesday morning.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has plenty of work to do this summer to ensure the team has a chance at returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2026 and it looks like he's about to lock up a piece of the team's core on a long-term deal.

Late last week, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Vancouver Canucks were going to "investigate" a contract extension for Conor Garland in the near future, with the forward becoming eligible to sign one as of Canada Day, which is only five days away.
Further to that, on Monday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that contract extension talks were expected to begin soon, however it looks like just three days later, the two sides are getting close to a deal.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Vancouver Canucks and Conor Garland have made significant progress on a contract extension on Thursday, adding that he wouldn't be shocked if it's officially signed and announced shortly after he's eligible next week.
"Sounds like #Canucks have made significant progress in extension talks with winger Conor Garland.

He's not eligible to re-sign until July 1, but wouldn't be surprised to see it get over the finish line relatively shortly thereafter." Seravalli said.
Garland is set to turn 30 in March 2026 and it looks like his next deal will keep him in Vancouver until the end of the 2031-32 season, as Rick Dhaliwal reports that he's looking at a six-year extension in the range of $36 million US ($6 million AAV).
"Sounds like the Connor Garland extension in Vancouver could be 6 years and 36 million dollars." Dhaliwal said.
The Scituate, Massachusetts native appeared in 81 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks where he put up 50 points (19 goals, 31 assists), 52 penalty minutes and was a minus-13.
