An NHL insider has given a big update on forward Conor Garland's future with the Vancouver Canucks organization beyond the 2025-26 NHL season.

July 1st is right around the corner and leading up to that day, the Vancouver Canucks are hoping to be quite busy as Patrik Allvin searches for help for the team's top-six forward group.
Every year, Canada Day is a big day for players that are set to enter the final year of their contracts in the fall as they become eligible to sign an extension with their current team and for the Vancouver Canucks, they have a couple of notables that can put pen-to-paper starting next Tuesday - Thatcher Demko and Conor Garland.
Conor Garland is coming off a solid season for the Vancouver Canucks and it looks like the team wants him to stick around for a while rather than losing him to the free agent market next summer.

Insider gives big update on Conor Garland's future with the Vancouver Canucks

Last week, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are expected to begin looking into a contract extension for Conor Garland starting on July 1st.
"As mentioned on Friday's pod, I expect Vancouver to investigate an extension with Conor Garland. He is eligible July 1." Friedman said.

Further to that, it looks like there's a mutual interest from Conor Garland's side to get something done as well, with David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reporting that the 29-year-old is "very interested" in remaining with the Vancouver Canucks.
"The Vancouver Canucks want to hold on to Conor Garland, as Elliotte Friedman first hinted at Friday. The two sides are expected to begin extension talks in the near future. He is entering the final year of his contract, and I'm told is very interested in staying beyond his current deal." Pagnotta said.

Garland, a native of Scituate, Massachusetts, is coming off the second 50+ point campaign of his NHL career and could be used in that second line right wing hole the team will have following the expected departure of Brock Boeser next Tuesday.
In 81 games this season, Garland had 50 points (19 goals, 31 assists), along with 52 penalty minutes and was a minus-13.
It's going to be interesting to see how this situation develops in the coming days and weeks and if both sides are able to get a deal done either on or shortly after July 1st.
