An NHL insider has revealed the Vancouver Canucks' offer they made last week to a 500-game veteran before they ultimately losing out to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was quite active during the first week of the NHL's free agency period, re-signing Brock Boeser, locking up Conor Garland & Thatcher Demko to extension, along with some minor signings for AHL Abbotsford.
The Vancouver Canucks were in on a number of well-known free agents on July 1st, but weren't able to land any, with Patrik Allvin mentioning recently that some players didn't have a desire to come north of the border to play in Canada.

Insider reveals offer made to Christian Dvorak by Vancouver Canucks

One name that the Vancouver Canucks did pursue on Canada Day was Christian Dvorak, formerly of the Montreal Canadiens, and he was reportedly their number one target, before even Brock Boeser, according to Rick Dhaliwal.
""The Vancouver Canucks' number one priority on July 1st was not Brock Boeser, it was Christian Dvorak. The Canucks got into a bidding war with Philadelphia over Dvorak.

They got into a bidding war and he wasn't going to be a second line center, Don, he was going to be third line center, just so you know that.

Don't kid yourselves, when the Canucks' number one option when they got up on July 1st was not Brock Boeser. They went to Boeser when they lost Dvorak to Philadelphia." Dhaliwal said.

Rick Dhaliwal gave another update on Vancouver's pursuit of Christian Dvorak last week and shared what the offer Patrik Allvin made to the centerman, which was quite competitive.
According to Dhaliwal, Dvorak was offered a three-year contract by the Vancouver Canucks with an annual salary in the range of $4 million US, $1.4 million less AAV than he got from the Philadelphia Flyers and a couple years longer on the term of the deal he landed to reunite with his ex-Arizona Coyotes bench boss, Rick Tocchet.

With Dvorak off the board, Vancouver shifted their attention to getting a deal done with one of their own free agents, Brock Boeser and at this point, feel more than comfortable beginning the 2025-26 season with a 1C & 2C of Elias Pettersson and Filip Chytil, respectively.
