Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser has a lot to prove this season and he knows that. After a 40-goal campaign in 2023-24, the 27-year-old is looking to replicate that success in order for a big payday at the end of the year as he's set to be without a contract following this season.
Brock Boeser's contract extension will be dealt with eventually and when the time is right,Patrik Allvin said in an interview with Thomas Drance of The Athletic. Allvin added he's hoping to see some consistency and hunger from Brock Boeser this year.
The Burnsville, Minnesota native had a tough end to the 2023-24 season. It was determined that he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg as a result of a blocked shot and after being told he was cleared to continue playing, the clot then moved to a deep vein before Game 7 against Edmonton. As a result, Boeser was forced to sit out of the winner-take-all game against the Oilers and even if the Canucks were to advance, it was very unlikely that he'd be able to play again in the playoffs.
Boeser will need to take precautions this season, especially on the road while flying, but he's now off blood thinners and able to take contact during practices, which is great news for Vancouver's leading goal scorer last season. It's going to be exciting to see what Boeser has in store this season as he tries to prove to everyone that he isn't just a flash in the pan and can be a consistent 35-40 goal scorer every year.
