Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil had some very high praise for his teammate Elias Pettersson recently as the latter is hoping for a big bounce back season.

The Vancouver Canucks are looking to put last season behind them and focus on returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs with their first step in getting there starting this Thursday as the club opens up training camp in Penticton.
One player that the Vancouver Canucks are not only hoping bounces back, but they need him to, is Swedish forward Elias Pettersson, who is coming off the second-lowest point total of his NHL career during the 2024-25 campaign.
Pettersson has certainly put in the work this summer to set him up for a rebound this year, telling reporters while at Sweden's Olympic Orientation Camp that he's out for revenge this season.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.

Elias Pettersson receives very high praise from teammate Filip Chytil

Entering the 2025-26 season, the Vancouver Canucks will have Elias Pettersson & Filip Chytil as their first and second line centermen, respectively, after the club was unable to find a 2C this summer on the trade market.
When speaking with NHL.com recently, Filip Chytil had some high praise for his teammate, calling Elias Pettersson one of the best centermen in the entire National Hockey League, while highlighting his strong two-way game prior to last season's struggles.
"I'm very happy that I can learn from him. Some of the things in his game are good for me, especially on defense. But he's such a smart player. I'm very happy that we play together and that we get to be in the same locker room." Chytil said according to NHL.com.

He added, He is one of the best centers in the NHL. What happened last year happened, you can't take it back, and I think he knows that too. It was a new side of him. It was no coincidence that he had such a season. Before that, he was so good and played well offensively and defensively."

As he gets set to embark on this "revenge season", Elias Pettersson has the support of his teammates, coaches and the Canucks' management, with everyone in the organization hoping that the Sundsvall, Sweden native can get back to the player he was just a couple of years ago.
