Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote revealed he met with Elias Pettersson last week and is glad the Swedish forward returned to the city this early.

It's going to be an interesting summer for the Vancouver Canucks as Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford look to put a disastrous 2024-25 campaign, both on and off the ice, in the past and push forward, with Stanley Cup Playoff aspirations next spring.
If the Vancouver Canucks are going to have any success next season, they're going to need a bounce back year from Elias Pettersson, who struggled throughout 2024-25 and the team is hoping he'll have a big offseason, which will certainly help him getting back to the top of his game.

Adam Foote opens up on Elias Pettersson, his future with the team and a recent meeting with the Swede

On Friday, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote was a guest on Halford and Brough on Sportsnet 650 radio where he opened up on Elias Pettersson's struggles last season and revealed that the two had a meeting recently.
According to Adam Foote, he was initially going to travel to visit Elias Pettersson, but the 26-year-old has returned to Vancouver a lot earlier than everyone was expecting, which he was quite happy about.
Foote added that he invited Elias Pettersson to go golfing last week and the two were joined by captain Quinn Hughes and goaltender Thatcher Demko, who welcomed his second child into the world recently.
Pettersson and Foote met a handful of times in Vancouver, with the Head Coach believing that this will be a fresh start for the Sundsvall, Sweden native and that they're going to turn the page on the past couple of seasons, which were tough for numerous reasons.
Vancouver Canucks fans are probably very happy to hear that Elias Pettersson and Adam Foote had some positive meetings in the last week or so.
Pettersson is undoubtedly the most important part of the Vancouver Canucks organization and when he's at the top of his game, he's certainly a top-15, maybe a top-10 forward in the National Hockey League.
Last week, a report came out from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period that said the Vancouver Canucks were taking trade calls on Elias Pettersson before his no-movement clause kicks in on July 1st and it's going to be interesting to see if that will change following positive meetings with the team's new bench boss.
