A former Vancouver Canucks fan favourite will be coming out of retirement the 2025-26 season and will be suiting up in one of the top senior men's leagues in Canada.

As we head deeper into the offseason in North America and Europe, more and more players are going to be putting pen-to-paper on contracts for the 2025-26 campaign, including numerous former Vancouver Canucks.
In late May we saw former Canucks forward David Booth, who turned 40 back in the fall, sign in the Australian Ice Hockey League with the Melbourne Ice and now, an ex-Vancouver fan favourite appears to be coming out of retirement for the 2025-26 season.

He may have played only one season in Vancouver, which happened to be his last in the National Hockey League, but forward Brandon Prust found his way into the hearts of Canucks fans pretty quickly for the energy, aggressiveness and passion he brought every single night.
After leaving Vancouver, and the NHL entirely, following the 2016-17 season, Prust headed to Germany to play for the Nurnberg Ice Tigers for his final season of professional hockey, before landing a PTO with the Los Angeles Kings in 2017, which was unsuccessful.
Eight years later, Brandon Prust is returning to hockey, but not professionally, as he's signed a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season with the Strathroy Jets, a senior men's team that recently joined the Metropolitan Division of the Northern Premier Hockey League (NPHL).
"🚨NEW SIGNING IN STRATHROY🚨

We're proud to announce that Brandon Prust is suiting up for the Strathroy Jets this season! 🏒🔥

The London, Ontario native brings a wealth of experience to our roster:
• 🏆 486 NHL games played
• 🔥 Played for the Flames, Rangers, Canadiens, and Canucks
• 🏒 Memorial Cup champion with the London Knights

With his grit, leadership, and pro pedigree, Prust is ready to make an impact right here at home. Let's gooo! 💪" the Jets shared in a social media post.
Prust, 41, landed his first coaching job ahead of the 2024-25 campaign with the Junior B London Nationals of the GOJHL, leading them to a fifth place finish in the Western Conference and helped them reach the second round of the Sutherland Cup Playoffs where they fell to the St. Mary's Lincolns.
The London, Ontario native will be looking to make some noise on and off the ice next season and hopefully, will lead both the Jets and the Nationals to championships in their respective leagues.
