Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson recently opened up about the possibility of playing at the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will take place in mid-February.

After a difficult season, filled with drama and injuries, Elias Pettersson is looking forward to the 2025-26 campaign, with the Swedish forward saying he's "out for revenge" as he hopes to have a big bounce back year for the Canucks.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season." Pettersson said.

He added, "I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better."

With Pettersson hard at work preparing for the 2025-26 season in Vancouver, he's also hoping he'll get a massive opportunity on the international stage in six months.

Earlier this week, Elias Pettersson and other Olympic hopefuls were in Stockholm for the federation's orientation camp and the Vancouver Canucks forward took the time to speak with Peter Ekholm, a reporter for the National Hockey League's Swedish site, about potentially having the opportunity to represent his nation on the biggest stage.
Pettersson said that he was grateful for the invitation to Tre Kronor's Olympic orientation camp, which reuinted him with some of his old teammates and he's hoping he'll be able to wear his nation's jersey in Italy next February.
Note: the following is translated from Swedish
" Great fun. Fun to meet old teammates, (Jacob) Markström among others, and talk about what's to come" Pettersson said. "It was of course great fun when the news came. I've never played in the Olympics, so hopefully it will be incredibly fun."

When discussing his goal of putting on the Tre Kronor sweater in Italy, Pettersson added, "It's always awesome. You have the entire population of Sweden behind you. And you know when you've stood in a sea of people cheering when Sweden played in the European Football Championship or something, so I guess people have the same feeling I have when they see us play hockey. It's insanely awesome."

The 26-year-old represented Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off back in February, but he didn't perform that well, going point-less in three games and when the opportunity came to represent his nation again, this time at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, he wasn't cleared to play.
All 12 participating nations will make their final rosters official at some point after Christmas, with Sweden, and hopefully Elias Pettersson, set to open the tournament on February 11th against the host nation, Italy.
