Florida Panthers Forward Brad Marchand Chirps Vancouver Canucks After Winning the Stanley Cup

After 82 regular season games and 23 postseason games, the Florida Panthers were crowned Stanley Cup champions, with three former Vancouver Canucks claiming hockey's greatest trophy - Nate Schmidt, Jonah Gadjovich and Roberto Luongo, along with one of their former prospects, Gustav Forsling.

In the three days since winning the Stanley Cup, the Florida Panthers have been celebrating wildly and on Thursday night, the Vancouver Canucks were among a number of teams that were chirped at by veteran forward Brad Marchand.

Last night, the Florida Panthers went out for a team dinner to continue their Stanley Cup celebrations and Brad Marchand decided to use this as an opportunity to thank the former clubs that his teammates suited up for.

Marchand did this by taking a picture of each of his teammates that had played for or were a prospect of another team in the past, posted them to his Instagram story and tagged each club.

When it came to Swedish defenseman Gustav Forsling, Brad Marchand thanked the Vancouver Canucks, as well as the Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes.

Forsling, 29, was a fifth round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but never suited up for the club as less than a year late, Jim Benning dealt him to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Adam Clendening.

The Linkoping, Sweden native went on to play for the Chicago Blackhawks and then the AHL affiliate for the Carolina Hurricanes, before finding a permanent home in South Florida with the Panthers and has been lights out for them in the last four seasons.

Forsling had a record-setting run with the Panthers last year, helping them win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, before doubling down in 2025, showing how important he can be on both sides of the puck.
