A former Vancouver Canucks defenseman believes that the team will end up regretting the decision to trade forward Dakota Joshua earlier this month to Toronto.

Exactly two weeks ago, the Vancouver Canucks, who wanted to clear up some cap space to make a future move, traded Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2028 NHL Entry Draft.
Trading Dakota Joshua didn't sit well with the Vancouver Canucks fan base, because of the energy and effort level he brought game in, game out, but with the need to move out money in order to potentially land some center depth, it had to be done.
"Just starting from behind I couldn't really get my game to where I wanted it to be until towards the end of the year. A frustrating year, for sure. But I'm happy to put it behind me and get a fresh start here." Joshua said recently.

He added, "I'm just looking to hit the ground running when camp starts,"

Former Vancouver Canuck believes team may regret trading Dakota Joshua

While making an appearance on Sekeres and Price this week, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado spoke about some of the moves made by Patrik Allvin and the front office throughout July.
When talking about the two trades - Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs & Arturs Silovs to the Pittsburgh Penguins - Corrado believes trading away the gritty forward will hurt a bit.
"I think the Joshua one more than the Silovs one, because they're still pretty well hedged in net. I would have said the player as opposed to the goaltender, maybe not in every situation." Corrado said.

When discussing what Joshua brings, Corrado added, "Change the temperature of the game and frustrate you with what he's doing away from the puck, and then frustrate you because he can actually score, you know, and kind of finish the job."

It's easy to see why a lot of people are upset with the club trading away Dakota Joshua, as he's the perfect player for playoff hockey, but with the Canucks tight to the cap and needing to free up some money, it was a necessary move.
On the bright side, the Vancouver Canucks did bring in someone who plays a similar style to Dakota Joshua and can put the puck in the back of the net more than the Dearborn, Michigan native, that being forward Evander Kane, who they acquired in a deal with Edmonton last month.
