Former Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has posted a heartfelt goodbye message to the organization and the team's fan base after being traded to the Minnesota Wild.
After months of rumors and spending parts of eight seasons with the Vancouver Canucks organization, Quinn Hughes was traded to the Minnesota Wild for a package that included Zeev Buium, Marco Rossi, a first round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and Liam Ohgren.
"Like Jim, I would also like to thank Quinn for everything he has done in Vancouver. Quinn played hard, led by example and did a lot of very good things for the Canucks. Trading away a player of this caliber is never an easy decision to make, but it was one we had to do to make our team better. We are so excited to add a solid centre in Marco, a good young blueliner in Zeev and a versatile forward in Liam. This year's draft is a strong one so acquiring a first-round pick was also a big part of this deal." GM Patrik Allvin said following the Quinn Hughes trade.
From the moment he arrived in Vancouver to his final game with the club on Thursday at Rogers Arena against the Buffalo Sabres, Quinn Hughes wore his heart on his sleeve and came to play every night and ended his time in the Lower Mainland as the greatest defenseman in the franchise's 55-year history.

On Saturday night, less than 24 hours before he's set to make his debut for the Minnesota Wild against the Boston Bruins, Quinn Hughes took to Instagram to share a goodbye message to the Vancouver Canucks organization and their fans, thanking them for the support he got ever since making the jump to professional hockey in the spring of 2019.
"I am very proud to have played for the Vancouver Canucks for 7 years, I loved the passion in the city & it brought me some of the most exciting times of my life, living out my dream. What makes playing in Vancouver so special is the people, the city, and what the team means to them! I will always be proud to have represented the Canucks!
I want to thank Francesco Aquilini and the entire Aquilini family for everything they have done for me the last seven years, they have been first class and I will always be grateful to them. Thank you to Jim Rutherford and Adam Foote for their belief and mentorship. All the staff over the years for always being there for me. Thank you to my teammates, met some of my best friends.
In saying that I am ready for this next chapter and I couldn't be more excited to be in The State of Hockey! See you tomorrow Minnesota!" Hughes said.
