Former Vancouver Canucks Forward Career Reaches an All-Time Low

A former Vancouver Canuck was among 38 players on the National Hockey League's waiver wire on Wednesday as teams continue to prepare their rosters for next week.
The National Hockey League's 2025-26 season
is set to get underway in less than a week, with Vancouver's schedule kicking off next Thursday and as teams continue to make cuts to their respective rosters, the waiver list continues to grow larger and larger.
Earlier this week, we saw a total of 22 players
land on the waiver wire including three ex-members of the Vancouver Canucks organization and on Wednesday, another former Canuck found himself on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of
TVA Sports shared an update list of those who were placed on waivers and in total, 38 players landed on the wire including former first round pick
Jakob Pelletier, veteran forward
Austin Watson and defenseman
Nolan Foote, son of Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote.
Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman
Christian Jaros, who just joined the team this summer after spending the last three seasons with Avangard Omsk, CSKA Moscow & Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL, was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
Also placed on waivers yesterday was former Vancouver Canucks forward
Sheldon Dries, who left British Columbia in the summer of 2024 to sign a two-year deal in his home state of Michigan with the Detroit Red Wings.
Dries, 31, was signed by the Vancouver Canucks on the opening day of free agency in 2021 and spent most of his time with the club in the American Hockey League, where he put up impressive numbers in 2021-22 (35 G, 62 PTS) and 2023-24 (29 G, 52 PTS).
The Macomb, Michigan native also appeared in 74 games at the National Hockey League level with the Vancouver Canucks, registering 20 points (13 goals, seven assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a minus-12.
Thursday at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. local) is when fans will find out the fate of the 38 players on waivers yesterday, including Sheldon Dries, and whether or not they'll be able to be assigned to the AHL or if they'll be claimed by another club.
