With one game left to go in the NHL preseason, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin made the hard choice of placing second chance forward Vitali Kravtsov on waivers.

Vitali Kravtsov (VAN) on waivers
Back at the beginning of August, the Canucks welcomed back the former-top ten pick Vitali Kravtsov, awarding him with a one-year, two-way contract after developing and impressing the last two seasons with the Chelyabinsk Traktor in the KHL.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with F Vitali Kravtsov on a one-year, two-way contract.
But, unbeknownst to him, just last week, an eye-opening report predicated that the Vancouver Canucks would be forced to place Vitali Kravtsov on waivers after b6eing the clear odd man out fighting for a spot on the bottom-6.
"A top-10 pick in 2018, Kravtsov is attempting an NHL comeback after finishing sixth in KHL scoring last season. The Canucks have a glut of depth forwards, and Kravtsov is currently on the outside looking in on a roster spot.

Kravtsov has intriguing size and skill, though he lacks a standout offensive trait. His straight-line speed appears to be quicker than it was during his last NHL stint, though his edge work in tight areas is still a work in progress. Kravtsov could appeal to a team with less depth that wants to gamble on his tools, pedigree and last year's KHL breakout." Pronman & Dayal said.

The 25-year-old winger is coming off an impressive year in the KHL, registering 27 goals and 58 points in 66 regular season games which helped Traktor Chelyabinsk reach the Gagarin Cup Final, where they ultimately fell in five games to the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
The Canucks were giving him a second chance to continue his career in the NHL but unfortunately, it will not be to start the season as GM Patrik Allvin announced they placed him on waivers for the purpose of sending him down to the American Hockey League.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Vitali Kravtsov has been placed on waivers, and F Joseph LaBate has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).
With strong upside and numbers to back it up, it will be very surprising to see Kravtsov clear waivers as many teams around the NHL could put his services to use.
