The Vancouver Canucks have made a big announcement on Wednesday morning regarding the team's first game at Rogers Arena for the 2025-26 season.

When the buzzer sounded at the end of Vancouver's final game of the 2024-25 season, a 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, there were plenty of disappointed fans inside Rogers Arena that were hoping for a better outcome that year.
One week prior, the Vancouver Canucks were officially eliminated from postseason contention for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin did a pretty good job early on in the offseason to improve his roster trading for Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers and to everyone's surprise, re-signing Brock Boeser to a long-term contract worth $50.75 million US.
With the majority of Vancouver's offseason work now completed, fans are starting to look towards the 2025-26 season and we now know when we'll see the team back on the ice at Rogers Arena.

Vancouver Canucks officially announce 2025-26 home opener

In a social media post on Wednesday morning, the Vancouver Canucks announced that their 2025-26 home opener at Rogers Arena will take place on Thursday, October 9th against the Calgary Flames.
"New #Canucks season loading at @RogersArena on October 9th. 👀

More games dropping soon..." the Canucks said on X.

This will mark the second straight year that the Vancouver Canucks' home opener has come on October 9th and both games have come against their Western Canadian rivals, the Calgary Flames, who have missed out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Last year's home opener was a wild one, with the Calgary Flames winning in overtime by a score of 6-5, with Brock Boeser and J.T. Miller both picking up two points each, while Arturs Silovs made 20 saves on 26 shots.
The rest of Vancouver's 2025-26 regular season schedule is set to be released by the National Hockey League later today at 10 am PT.
